Location: Chennai, India
As an Electrical & Instrumentation Draftsman at GWT Infra Private Limited, you will
be responsible for leading the preparation, review, and coordination of detailed electrical and
instrumentation drawings for complex water & wastewater treatment and oil & gas projects. This role
ensures that all E&I deliverables are accurate, compliant with international standards, and aligned with
project specifications and schedules.
The position requires strong technical expertise, the ability to independently handle full project drafting
scopes, and close coordination with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
What You'll Do
1. Electrical Drafting
• Develop, review, and approve electrical drawings including:
Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
Power distribution systems
Lighting, earthing, and lightning protection layouts
Cable routing, tray layouts, and trench layouts
• Prepare and check control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and termination drawings
• Review load lists, cable schedules, and equipment layouts for accuracy
2. Instrumentation Drafting
• Lead preparation and checking of instrumentation drawings such as:
P&IDs, Instrument Indexes, and I/O lists
Instrument loop diagrams and hook-up drawings
Instrument installation details and junction box layouts
Interconnection and cable wiring diagrams
• Ensure consistency of instrument tagging and documentation across all drawings
3. Technical Leadership & Coordination
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior and intermediate draftsmen
• Coordinate closely with Electrical, Instrumentation, Process, Mechanical, Civil, and Automation teams
• Review drawings for compliance with project specifications, IEC, IEEE, ISA, and client standards
• Resolve drawing clashes and interface issues in multidisciplinary environments
4. Quality, Review & Project Support
• Lead drawing reviews and incorporate comments from engineers, clients, and third party reviewers
• Ensure proper document control, revision management, and drawing standards
• Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and as-built documentation
• Assist engineering team during construction and site queries
What We're Looking For
• Diploma in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering
• ITI with extensive relevant experience may be considered
• Advanced AutoCAD certification is an advantage
• 8–15 years of experience in E&I drafting
• Strong background in water & wastewater treatment plants and/or oil & gas facilities
• Proven experience working on EPC / PMC projects
